Choose your colors in this smaller version of the Volvox Daughter Colony window installation. Mixed Media, hand twisted wire circles support acrylic on tissue paper, made with a gel pad, and dipped in hot beeswax for stability.
Installation piece made from monotypes on tissue paper and wire, dipped in beeswax, hanging in a window. 34"W x 48"H - made in January, 2021, shown hanging in the Annmarie Gallery’s “On Paper” show in Maryland, curated by the Smithsonian’s Joan Boudreau. The piece can be hung from wire on a dowel from the top of the window, or each circle can be hung on it’s own suction cup, and I can send you pictures of both installations so you can choose. This piece is available either way. Yes, the suction cups stay on! I’ve had one installation up in a window for 9 months and it is still holding strong.
We're all grown from the same earth, blown together on a shared branch by the rough winds of chance and circumstance. Various random and famous people are featured on these circles, from Megan Rapinoe, American soccer player and LBGTQ activist to moms and babies on a beach in Australia. We're all connected, and weather storms together. Mixed media image transfer, acrylic on tracing paper on wire circles, dipped in beeswax. 29" W x 52" H
This mixed media installation features monotype image transfers on tracing paper glued to handmade wire circles and dipped in beeswax. They hang from a branch found on the shores of the North Umpqua river in Oregon, one of America’s last wild rivers.
12”x 12” Fine Art Print on high quality paper. These prints were created from the original monotypes on tissue paper which are part of the “Biology Rising” window installations. I digitally altered the originals with different colored filters to represent the different hues of humanity.
My version of a primordial journey: the birth of a cell through its natural life cycle. Created with mixed media monoprints on tissue paper which are then collaged onto a large, 24” x 24” square canvas, then embellished with canvas circles that were cut on my Glowforge laser cutter. I painted the circles with acrylic paint on my gel pad to add additional texture and depth. Framed in a float frame.
16” x 20” Mixed Media: canvas circles, printed with acrylic paint on a gel pad, glued onto landscape fabric and paper. Matted and framed (more photos coming soon, please ask if you’re interested in more photos!)
“The State of Hope'' [now in the Mayor of Eugene, Oregon’s public art collection] - 60” W x 42” H, this mixed media painting on canvas features many of the amazing women who work so hard to make the world a better place including artists, mothers, musicians, social justice and climate activists, farmers and politicians. You will likely recognize some of them. I’ve used acrylic paint and image transfers on tissue paper to make the stripes of the flag. This painting can carefully fit into the back of my Subaru Outback wagon! This piece is featured in the Eugene, Oregon Mayor’s Art show, and will be hanging at the Eugene Airport in August, 2021. You can see the video of how I created this piece on my JulieJulieArt YouTube Channel
